Terms of Use
Last updated: 20 June 2026
These Terms govern your use of FORMANT ("the Service", at formant.webroose.com), operated by WebRoose Development LLP ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. The Service
FORMANT is a free, browser-based tool to convert audio to MIDI and to generate chord progressions, melodies and arpeggios as MIDI files. It runs on your device; we provide it for your personal and commercial music-making use.
2. Your content and output
You are responsible for any audio you load. You retain all rights to the MIDI files you generate or convert with FORMANT — we claim no ownership over them and you may use them freely, including in commercial projects. Only upload or process audio you have the right to use.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including attempting to disrupt it, reverse-engineer it for abuse, or use it for any unlawful purpose.
4. Intellectual property
The FORMANT name, design, and code are owned by WebRoose Development LLP. The Service uses third-party open-source components (including Spotify's basic-pitch model) under their respective licenses.
5. Third-party services
The Service displays advertising via Google AdSense and is delivered through third-party hosting. Your use of those services is also subject to their terms and policies. See our Privacy Policy for details.
6. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that audio-to-MIDI conversion or generated material will be accurate, complete, or fit for a particular purpose.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WebRoose Development LLP will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
